Firefox Session Saver

I am clearly far too addicted to the Firefox Session Saver plug-in, as evidenced by my current state of great distress after having it NOT work for me.

Firefox just crashed, and I was given the option of closing, reporting the error, or relaunching. I chose to relaunch, and apparently Session Saver doesn't work under those circumstances (though they promised me that nothing would stand in its way! Nothing, they said!). Hence me, sitting here staring in terror at my screen, which is missing 18 tabs full of the things I've been meaning to read/blog/deal with for the past long time. The tabs are an ongoing rotation, for me.

Gulp. Technology addiction is a scary thing, actually. On the plus side, I bought a guitar this week. The plan is more music, less Flickr. Whoo hoo!

Drinking from the Firehose

An old friend emailed me today to tell me that she enjoys reading my blog, but doesn't understand most of it. It made me smile, and got me thinking a bit. Thanks for the feedback, Deb. :)

It's true that a lot of my recent posts have been fairly geekery-focused. I don't want to discourage non-geek readers, but I guess the truth of the matter is that I spend a lot of time working with and thinking about web-related stuff lately, and that's what I'm inclined to post about. It probably also means that my parents aren't reading this regularly. (Though if I'm wrong, leave a comment, eh Mum/Dad?)

I'm soaking up a lot of new information rather quickly these days. Richard just said to me, in response to my comment that I feel like my on-ramp into geekdom has been fast and steep, that "hanging out at the Bryght office is like drinking from the firehose." True. It also leads to writing posts that normal people can't make any sense of. But I have to say that I've been enjoying learning to speak geek... I just need to remember to bring it on back to the real world!

My First Qumana Post

I just downloaded Qumana, in the hopes that it will allow me some functionality that my beloved Drupal blog doesn't yet... most particularly, the ability to write a post in advance and publish it a specified time in the future. I don't see how to do that, though... Drat.

Northern Voice Live

Just checking in from the keynote addresses at Northern VoiceRobert Scales just took a great picture of me and Kris and I thought I'd stick it up, since I generally don't link enough images in here!

Moosecamp yesterday was fun - frenetic, unstructured, but fun. There's a ridiculous amount of Flickr-ing happening. I taught a yoga class. KK led a very successful photocamp. We had a picnic in Stanley Park, with mucho sausages, condiments galore, many photos taken, and probably hundreds of freezing fingers and toes in aggregate. (Beautiful day it may have been, but damn it was chilly come 8pm last night.)

I'm looking forward to the rest of the day, particularly the How Your Blog and Change the World panel. More later, likely...

Getting Ready to Geek

It's just around the corner now...

The Open Source CMS Summit, back-to-back with Northern Voice and Moosecamp.

I am signed up for the following sessions so far at the CMS Summit:

I'm looking forward to it. It'll test my geek mettle, but I'm up for it. To be an effective translator of the tools to the outside world, I need to be able to speak geek.

In completely other news: I invested in a Litebook today, in the hopes that it will live up to its claims and help alleviate the fatigue and blahs that I tend to feel through Vancouver winters. I'll keep you posted...

About this Site

A hodge-podge of random thoughts, musings, and links – sometimes about social change, sometimes about technology and the web, sometimes about yoga, and occasionally about knitting. Sometimes (because I'm a Canadian girl with deep roots in the British Isles) I even write about the weather.

I'm a yoga teacher, founder of Yoga for Geeks, and a freelance web writer, strategist, and project manager. I also help to co-create the amazing Web of Change Conference, every September in beautiful British Columbia.
